Cosmetic solutions for missing teeth - dental implants

Clinician: Dr Richard Brookshaw,

Many patients experience tooth loss – whether it be a single tooth that is lost or multiple teeth. New advances and technical innovations make it possible to replace missing single teeth permanently, using a titanium dental implant, without treating or touching adjacent teeth, and the end result is that only you will know that you have ever lost a tooth.

People affected by tooth loss often find eating in public difficult and traumatic or are not confident about their smile. When teeth are lost your jawbone actually shrinks away, and from scientific research we know that wearing dentures accelerates this process. This in turn affects the muscle tone to the face reducing bone support for the lips and cheeks eventually leading to a typical denture look as immortalised by famous cartoons, where the lips and lower part of the face have collapsed producing an ageing effect on the individual's appearance.

Dr Brookshaw was  one of the first dentists in the UK to be trained using the new key hole surgery techniques with Nobel guide. Nobel guide allows the placing of a dental implant, abutment and restorative crown to happen simultaneously. Conventionally this would take three visits. It allows Dr Brookshaw to see the exact position and depth of your dental implants even before surgery, thus making the procedure safer and much more predictable. There is also no healing time required prior to function.

Dental Implant Success Rates:

Conventional dental implant success rates are 90-95%. That means that 1 in 10 in the upper jaw and 1 in 20 in the lower jaws. However during the last three years Dr Brookshaw with our new techniques has placed over 1500 dental implants with a success rate of 98.5%.
