What are Chemical Peels?

Clinician: Carmel McKenna,

Chemical peels are non surgical treatments and involve applying an acidic solution to the face in order to expedite the normal exfoliation process whereby the outer skin cells are removed. This rejuvinates the skin, can stimuate collagen, reduce fine lines, remove sun spots, rough spots and irregular pigmentation.  They can also improve large pores and acne.

We offer Glycolic peels, Easy Phytic peels and TCA peels.

Glycolic Peel

Glycolic is the smallest molecule of the alpha hydroxy acids (AHA).  In mild concentrations it acts as an exfoliant and in stronger concentrations it becomes a superficial peel.
Glycolic has been shown to stimulate collagen synthesis as well as refreshing the skin to give it a youthful glow.

Easy Phytic Peel

Easy Phytic contains a combination of glycolic acid, lactic acid, mandelic acid and phytic acid.  This chemical peel is self neutralising and has a slow release action on the skin.  Social life is not affected and results in a smoother, fresher skin without the downtime.

TCA Peel

TCA (Trichloracetic Acid) 15%.

TCA is considered to be one of the safest and effective and the easiest peel.  It is a medium depth chemical peel and can be tailored to suit the skin type.  The peel is performed weekly and 4 are recommended.  No skin preparation is required and mild peeling occurs on day 3-4 post treatment.

  • It is indicated for skin rejuvinations, photo ageing, melasma, chloasma, acne and pigmentation.
  • This can also be used on the hands, neck and decollete using special protocols.
  • You will be required to use a special cream post treatment for 6 weeks.
