The revolutionary
mini-implants can be placed quickly and efficiently with no incision
and with little or no discomfort or inconvenience to the patient. This
latest implant allows for cheaper and easier placement and is becoming
very popular in the UK. Mini-implants are smaller than the traditional
implants and consist of titanium pegs, no bigger than the width of
a matchstick which are placed into tiny perforations in the gum, made
under local anaesthetic.
The peg is then used as a "virtual root" and
patients can have one mini-implant placed and just a single tooth fitted,
or several to stabilise a denture or even more for a fixed bridge.
This minimally invasive procedure means that healing is often painless
as well as very swift. In addition, costs connected with complex dental
surgery in the case of traditional implants are avoided, resulted in
more affordable treatment for all. |

“After many years of having a bottom denture that didn't fit
correctly, resulting in sore gums and embarrassment when I coughed
or laughed! These mini-implants have solved all my problems - I'd totally
recommend them.” Mrs N. H. |
